bike20ofrIn the summer months (June, July, and August), the West Deer Township Police Bicycle Patrol Unit is utilized.  This unit is made up of Officer's Shurina, Wikert, and Burk.  All officers ride a Cannondale Mountain Bike equipped with all emergency equipment needed.  The departments bicycle fleet currently consists of three Cannondale's, all of which were purchased utilizing grant programs.  The officers patrol the plans throughout the township, assist with traffic and crowd control at community events, assist with speed monitoring details  and are utilized wherever the need may arise.

The basic purpose of the bicycle unit is to put the police department in a better position to communicate with the public and ascertain the communities needs and concerns.

Residents are urged to make arrangements with the police department to have the bicycle unit attend block parties, community event, etcetera.  In addition, officers can also arrange a bicycle skills course, bicycle inspections and bicycle rodeos for any organization or event.

For arrangements, please contact the police department, Monday-Friday between the hours of 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM.
