Leto Gas & Oil Well Hearing Information

On February 22, 2023, the Board of Supervisors of the Township of West Deer commenced a public hearing at American Legion Post 593 located at 57 Superior Road, Tarentum, PA 15084, to consider an application for conditional use approval for Gas and Oil Production filed by the Applicant, Olympus Energy, LLC, for the property identified in the Application as 301 Oak Road but identified in the Allegheny County Office of Property Assessments as 305 Oak Road (Block and Lot No. 1668-R-91). The applicant proposes to construct a well pad for operation of a Deep Well at the subject property.

The subject property is located in the I-Industrial Zoning District of the Township.  A deep well site may be authorized as a conditional use in the I-Industrial Zoning District of the Township subject to the requirements of the Zoning Ordinance of West Deer Township, including Section 210-120 (A)(21).

The hearing resumed on March 1, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. at the American Legion Post 593. The hearing resumed for a third time on March 7, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. at the West Deer Municipal Building, 109 East Union Road. The hearing resumed for a fourth, and final, time on March 14, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. at the West Deer Municipal Building, 109 East Union Road.

A copy of the application and related materials may be examined without charge (or copies obtained for a charge not greater than the cost thereof to the Township) at the West Deer Township Office, 109 East Union Road, Cheswick, PA 15024, Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

On June 21, 2023 the Board of Supervisors rendered their decision, granting approval of the conditional use application and land development plan for the Leto well pad.
